Professor of Natural Language Processing · Group Leader
Johannes Bjerva
Johannes studies how linguistic structure helps explain multilingual language models, particularly their security and privacy risks. He leads AAU NLP and AAU's Copenhagen Section of Computer Science.
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor · Co-director, AI:PAGE-Lab
Russa Biswas
Russa studies knowledge-graph representation and reasoning, and how graphs can support factual language-model outputs. She co-directs AI:PAGE-Lab, applying these methods to historical collections.
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor
Dustin Wright
Dustin studies whether AI-generated information remains faithful to its sources and preserves diverse knowledge. He also works on efficient models and AI sustainability.
Assistant Professor
Heather Lent
Heather studies multilingual language-model security and the ethics of security research, including privacy risks from text embeddings. Her work also covers Creole and other lower-resourced languages.
Assistant Professor · Joint affiliation with Formal Methods for Security & Privacy
Xikun Jiang
Xikun develops trustworthy and responsible AI, with a focus on privacy-preserving methods and AI verification for secure and reliable systems.
Postdoctoral & research support
Research staff
Postdoctoral researchers and research assistants.
Postdoc
Anahita Baninajjar
Anahita works on trustworthy AI and language-model security, including methods that support robust and verifiable learning systems.
Research Assistant
Yingming Wang
Yingming studies the trustworthiness of LLMs and LLM-based agents, with particular attention to linguistically motivated approaches.
Research Assistant
Anna Lackner

Doctoral research
PhD fellows
Our PhD researchers work across multilingual evaluation, model security, factuality, knowledge, finance, and the linguistic analysis of AI.
PhD Fellow · MML-RPL
Marcell Richard Fekete
Marcell studies language variation through parameter-efficient adaptation and comparisons between human and model language knowledge.
Awarded a DFF International Postdoc fellowship for Fast and Focused, starting November 2026.
PhD Fellow
Ernests Lavrinovics
Ernests studies LLM factuality and hallucinations, knowledge-enhanced models, multilingual evaluation, and efficient model compression.
Industrial PhD · with Alipes ApS
Rasmus Thyge Aavang Jensen
Rasmus researches ways to verify KPI extraction, particularly numerical claims. This work is grounded in spoken dialogue such as earnings calls.
PhD Fellow · AI:SECURITY
Josephine Marie Bakka
Josephine researches security questions in AI and large language models as part of the interdisciplinary AI:SECURITY lab.
PhD Fellow · AI:SECURITY
Xiaoyu Luo
Xiaoyu studies neural-network memorisation, privacy leakage, and multilingual security in generative language models.
PhD Fellow · TRUST
Dorielle Lonke
Dorielle studies linguistically grounded methods for the development and critical assessment of interpretable, trustworthy and safe AI systems.
PhD Fellow · TRUST
Davis Davalos-DeLosh
Research profile to follow.
PhD Fellow · LM²-SEC
Ivaylo Mitov

Luc Raszewski
Incoming PhD Fellow · DARA
Luc's DARA fellowship investigates how to preserve information diversity during language-model alignment, supervised by Dustin Wright and Johannes Bjerva.
Alumni
Alumni
Former group members and where they work now.
PhD alumna · MML-RPL · 2025
Esther Ploeger
NowPostdoctoral Researcher · Utrecht University
Esther's PhD connected linguistic typology with multilingual NLP, language diversity, and machine translation. She now studies within-language diversity in Utrecht's NLP and Society Lab.
Awarded a Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Postdoctoral Fellowship (declined).
Postdoctoral alumnus · DTAF · 2025
Mike Zhang
NowPostdoctoral Researcher · University of Copenhagen & Pioneer Centre for AI
Mike's AAU work focused on language technology for education, including explainable feedback and longitudinal learning support. He now works on multilingual LLM post-training, NLP applications, and AI's societal effects.
